Ten-try onslaught led by scrum-half Williams

SPALDING ran in ten tries to maintain their position at the head of Midlands Three East (North).
To give fourth-placed Ashbourne their due, they never ceased to attempt to stop the home side's variety of attack but were no match for a side full of confidence and endeavour.
Town opened their scoring account within five minutes.
Winger George Brown sliced through the defence, Jamie Anthony kicked ahead and from the resulting play Ben Williams' power was too much for the defence. Jim Williams converted.
They continued to attack and with their forwards, dominant in all phases, took the ball against the head.
Scrum-half Ben Williams secured the ball and fed George Brown, who crossed for an unconverted try.
The onslaught continued, Town showing their handling and attacking prowess with the ball passing through many hands before Ben Williams provided the finishing touch. Brother Jim converted.
Then a back row move and a swiftly taken penalty saw number eight Matt Skinner driven to the line for 24-0.
Town continued to attack at every possible opportunity.A handling move on the halfway gave fly half Jim Williams the opportunity to wrongfoot the defence and touch down in the corner.
There was still time before the break to produce yet another quality score. The ball again going through a series of hands before reaching centre Anthony who had the pace and power to touch down in the corner, giving his side a 34-0 lead to take to the second period.
For much of the half, Ashbourne played their best rugby, actually forcing the home side onto the defensive and at last playing some rugby in their opposition's half.
An increasingly difficult ball to handle also accounted for a number of errors by the home side which gave the opposition some hope.
But the relief was only temporary and by the close of the game, Town had added a further four tries to their tally, two of which were converted and they had passed the half century mark for the second week in succession.
Ben Williamson, who caused the opposition problems throughout, burst through the centre to score near the posts and Jim Williams added the points.
A further Ben Williams try put the finishing touch to more elusive George Brown play. He completed his scoring spree of four tries minutes later, crowning a personal performance which had caused the opposition problems throughout.
It was left for second-row forward Ed Duerdin to canter under the posts for a converted try.
