Whilst in my role as 'acting' secretary, I am trying to get the Club's details of all the members up to date including e-mail addresses. Most playing members will have been given two forms to fill in and we would be pleased if you could return these ASAP to Mick Pepper, Andy Bailey or Martin Fryer. Thanking you for your time and assistance.
With the 75th Annivesary next season, we are also trying to contact as many past players as possible to invite them along to join in the Club's celebrations. If you have any information regarding past players, please contact Mick Pepper

Following the recent AGM and the appointment of Directors etc, we are still very keen to update all the members details for the Club data base. Could members please contact Steve Jones or Mick Pepper with all their details including e-mail address ASAP. 2007/08 season sees the Club celebrate its 75th Anniversary --and despite various comments I haven't seen them all!!! With various events, tour information etc, it will be easier for the Club to contact members if we have the correct address etc amd more so an e-mail address. We hope you will give up a couple of minutes of your valuable time to send us this information. Members have asked about various events during the close season and a popular idea appears to be a three -legged sponsored pub crawl!!! If you have any ideas for fund-raising, sponsorship etc please contact Mick Pepper --do you work for or know a Company/Individual who would be keen to sponsor a match ball, take out an advert in the fixture book, sponsor new kit or sponsor an event such as the Xmas Draw.

| on the note of the match ball sponsor mick......how come a new match ball is never bought with the match ball sponsor money? Surely if even only a few of these were bought and then passed down from the 1st XV to the other teams by the end of the season each team would have at least 2 match standard balls instead of having to rely on the vintage "gripper" balls we seem to use each week? |

I realise that we do buy match balls and I remember us having some in the past - dunno where these went. But it was a bit embarrassing a few times last season when we couldn't provide a decent ball to play with for our home games - we often ended up using a ball provided by a visiting team!
Maybe an exercise for the summer is to sort out the balls in the lock up - most of them are knackered! |

| yeah good idea Pete, infact that whole shed needs a good sort out and tidy up dont you think? But still...if the Match ball sponsor money was used to buy a match ball for the 1st VX home games etc we would end up with, like i said in previous post, a few per each team by the end of the season. And yes you're right it is quite embarrassing when you're having to rely on the opposition to bring a match ball...Maybe this should be in a different forum topic? see what other peoples views are? |

Tom and ARUFC, As you will have heard from the Chairman at the AGM we are hoping to invest monies in to improving the showers at the QEGS changing rooms in readiness for next season. Also, we are looking to invest in a second lock up unit to enable us much more room for equipment and split the junior and senior kit etc. The Club do purchase new balls before the start of the season to cover match ball sponsorship but inside a month of the start of last season 3 match balls were 'lost' plus disappearing water bottles etc. Members need to take a little responsibility for playing equipment after matches and ensure these are returned to the lock ups. Mick Hydes regularly picked up items left outside the pavilions or by the touch line. When the new unit is in place, the Club will take an audit of the stock and try to keep a closer eye on equipment including first aid for all teams.
