While i appreciate the efforts of "Development XV Captain" and understand it isnt an easy job. i also feel players would be alot more supportive and understanding if their captain played with them (not literally) ((well not before the game anyway, save it for the showers)) I also appreciate the fact there is a vice captain in place to take on the role of captain should he not be availble...but lets face it...there's a legal voting age for a reason!!
Player development in my opinion is essential for the future of the club and i applaud anyone talented enough to be able to work their way up the teams. I just dont think this should be an option for anyone who has opted to become captain or vice captain of a particular team for a season. If i was good/fit/thin/fast/hard enough (circle where appropriate) to be able to naturally progress up through the teams i wouldnt take on the role of team captain/vice etc.
Adam i agree, Ashbourne has the potential to be, if not already the best community club in derbyshire and with the right teamwork and effort we will succeed in getting to where we want to be, but as they say Rome wasnt built in a day. It was only last year we got a 4th XV team up and running and succeeded in completing a fantastic first year. In my opinion, while it is great to be able to boast 5 senior sides, i just dont think the club is ready for it, due to late drop outs, illness, cant be botheredness, of which im guilty of myself.
On a lighter note....does Tess Daley attend selection? |
